Overview of Well Service and Workovers
This course presents a general overview of the most common oil well service and workover procedures. Curriculum is designed to provide participants with a deeper understanding of well servicing operations and their impact upon petroleum production. Participants will learn about downhole repairs and workovers, well stimulation, well completion, and downhole equipment.

1. Identify the activities associated with Well Service and Workover operations
2. Identify and describe the function of downhole components and equipment
3. Identify common methods of downhole repair.
4. Identify common well stimulation procedures.

Overview of Drilling
Course will cover the foundation components of rotary drilling systems and procedures. Participants will learn the most common methods of drilling for petroleum and natural gas, as well as the equipment associated with each.

2 days

1. Demonstrate basic knowledge of drilling equipment
2. Identify and demonstrate common drilling methods and procedures
3. Recognize best practices for rig safety

Pulling Unit Operations
Course will cover the essential components of well servicing and rig operations. Participants will learn the most common methods for downhole repair and the tools associated with each job. Areas of emphasis include rod parts, tubing holes, swabbing, seating/unseating pumps and packers, tubing anchors, and fishing.

2 days

Objectives (Participants will be able to:)
1. Demonstrate basic knowledge of service unit equipment
2. Handle tubing and rods in the derrick and on rig floor
3. Identify and perform procedures for pulling rods, tubing, unseating pumps and packers, and                 releasing tubing anchors
4. Identify the functions of basic fishing tools and operate equipment

Well Control
Course will cover the primary indications of a downhole pressure kick, techniques and procedures for restoring control of the well, and the most common types of BOPs. Participants will learn to recognize pressure kicks, install, open and close BOPs.

2. Install and implement blowout preventers
3. Operate a Blowout Preventer
4. Restore control to a released well

Pressure Pumping
Course will cover the best practices and techniques for pumping fluids under pressure. Participants will learn to monitor pressure gauges, operate pumping equipment, and implement emergency shutdown procedures.

2. Read and monitor pressure gauges
3. Operate pumping equipment
