Dual Credit Renewable Energy Training

New Mexico Junior College will be offering courses in the “Green” field of renewable energy technology. This is a four semester program designed to educate people primarily in renewable Wind, Solar and Fuel cell technology, and how to generate Power from Wind, Solar, Hydrogen, Hydro electric, Electrical, Light, Mechanical, Atomic, and Chemical energy sources. What makes them work, how do they produce electricity, what are the mechanical, chemical, and electrical properties that allow us to use them, and how do we calculate their functions?

Students will construct and experiment with a wind generator, solar photovoltaic energy experiments build and run a functional model Hydrogen generated car, explore Web-based programs and research government information/facilities, and businesses that are in the renewable energy industry.

The class is designed to give individuals the basic background for jobs in the energy field. Additional subjects covered will be, understanding AC & DC electrical circuits, equipment and power, use of a Volt/Ohm meter, Solar Panels, Fuel Cells, and Wind Turbines. All of the above will give you knowledge required for entry level green collar jobs, and upon completion of a program you will receive a certificate of completion, and have knowledge that can lead you into an exciting and very viable job market.

This is a dual credit course, in which you will receive High School Credit as well as College Credit and allow you a great opportunity to get into a job that has a Great Future.
